Make a wish. Take a train. Live and go. Then come back. And, do it again?

"But a: A thug changes and love changes
And best friends become strangers, word up"
Nas

Hi Dears! Yes I changed that much that even my playlist has been pimped and renewed...
Outch!
That is so weird knowing that I was, or my ears were may I add; a rock addict: no really hip hop hater but not that far... Hun hun, now I have to admit I changed and grew , I should rather say; that I started to listen to Hip Hop music, (I mean it in general stuff that I wasn't able to listen to entire songs of that before...) and I think it is very much a good thing to enlighten and enlarge my hearing capacities !
From all rock roots, to blues, classical (mostly in Winter time - don't ask me why haha), country (mainly in summer time - still don't ask haha), and now some bit of US hip hop and even R'nb (omg this one I would neveeeer thought about earlier in time!

My teardrop gauge earring is from Pirate Piercing
My blush powder from &Other Stories (cf. Canvas Taupe)

Turtle Neck Knit Jumper from Zara
Boyfriend Low Waist from H&M
Burlington Socks from H&M
Adidas Stan Smith

Now I am aware and I know it's odd and perhaps more than only a few from you who dared to tell me what they think are: whether sad from the vintage going away and being that confirmed by this new playlist playing in my ears; or maybe only thinking that I am turning away from some interest I may had raised, but clearly let's be clear (redondance!): I am still the same.
You know why? It is not what apparel I choose or what social envelope I want to fit in that is changing me from the essence of my being...
No, I am still the same Harry Potter girl, who lives to laugh, who thinks a bit too much even for simple facts, who forgets her schedule (damn it Lorna) who wants to be back home before midnight and who chose to spend her B-day not in a big party where I could have hypothetically found a new lover, but rather stay with best friends speaking about anything and everything in a small restaurant where some Magician came to our table to do tricks! This I will always remain; in a 50s frock or in a pair of blue jeans.

But I believe that in a Life; you can live several ones. Just to build you up.
By the way, I had a very enjoyable Birthday thanks to everyone who had been there, and those who wished me a happy day on Insta !

I think it is one of the first times on the blog that you can see me with nearly "no" make up on ...
Not too awful I hope! I like the fact that I "accept" my face when it's more resembling to what it is ; in real.

Oh and the outdoor outfit!
(yes cause we do where a coat in Paris; those last week were warm but let's not extrapolate the temperature haha. And we do have a bag. Of course, we do.)
Coat H&M (it may be in sale now...)
Knot Bag from Zara

Leave my Body.

Hi Loves !
Leaving Brussels tomorrow... I always have such a blast. Customers are nice, people organizing the International Tattoo Con too: so that's perfect.
Even if I had a tiny situation at the start... It's one of those times when you trust enough the website of a hotel to think it will be the same... but jeez it was awful.
A friend of mine told me then that this hotel is like for the people cheating on their partners and all. Oh great.
so very happy I changed ! haha

Whenever you're planning a trip to Brussels do not go to the Queen Ann Hotel! I don't even want to waste time putting up their link, ugh.
Thought it will be a bit vintage... Well seems that I prefer my new 29 floors big 4* hotel , yes I do !

I am very thrilled to present you this new series from Marion Colombani perfect French photographer and make up by Bellinda .
It speaks out my new way of styling up myself in which I feel like I really fit in ( after Tomato Soup post consideration) .

Coat: H&M Trend (Superior products available on few selected stores)
White oversized top: Uterque (from my Barcelona Haul !)
Zara Trousers (also from Spain)
Pull and Bear fake leather slippers (and ... again !)

Well, on this brand new start for me I wish you all a very happy and crazy (otherwise not funny) week to you all!

Love;
Lorna

Tomato Soup.

Today it's been a pretty shitty day weather in Paris oh god.
So I thought well, let's britghen this all with very luminous colors of this end of August photoshoot!
Also, I'd like to chat about something (yes I know you're thinking what again is she gonna lecture us about haha): I told you I wanted to try some new way of dressing up right ?
Well, that's not only because I want to quit the vintage gal look I had; I of course want to preserve it for my grieving but I also forget to mention my body changed.

10 years ago now, I had some hard weight issues and was very slim even though it wasn't completely on purpose (of course it was, but at the time I didn't know about this). I never mention this in any conversation and even when I hear about eating disorder I never speak about me. Just like it never happened. But yes it did. And I know , whatever you do to your body it always keeps in mind everything. Your body is like a diary , so treat it well.
Easier to say than to apply I know.
During these 5 last years I haven't noticed I was changing.
Trying to vanish this old part of me, not to let it come back I started to be different; I started to have CURVES coming all around me. I was first a bit freaked out because I didn't know this girl but then I thought "oh thats very pin-up-ish!"
And yes , it is. So let me now, come back to 5 months ago, after living these 5 years in those curves, loosing my beloved it all came back again.
The first few days I haven't feed at all. I wasn't even sick. I knew that the most important when you don't eat is to at least drink. You then notice that Water is all our birth place and we couldn't live without.
But yes , indeed this feed less diet had to come to an end.
So I choose some new diet. Not so new I should say.

I didn't accept that I was becoming a vegetarian when I was with her (because I was always speaking of it in her name; and now that I think of it people must think that I never spoke for myself, shame no?) but yes I was. Now, I should maybe call me a pesci-vegetarian cause I still eat some fish, but no "bloody" meat in me anymore. I don't want to speak about the diet cause every diet is strictly private and I think those days too many people follow stuff that they think are cool but would perhaps regret it later, only to follow some trend.
So with this new way of eating, I lost weight, and lot of my muscles but I do have new ones coming...
I said goodbye to the big muscles (discreet but bigger though) that I had with red meat, and now I'm like we say in French "avec des muscles plus secs" meaning flatter and grease-less muscles haha.
This , influence on my whole body. I haven't been looking at my proper weight but only by sizing I was a UK 10 sometimes 12 and I now wear 6/8.

This is NOT at all a post about: wow I've done it, look at me, blabla. No it's about; I changed and I don't feel like the pin up clothes fit me anymore despite my ways of trying.
I feel more comfortable in a new style. It is sad a bit, it's a part of me going away.
But I'm pretty sure that if it's a real part of me , it won't go far.

Dress from PURRFECT KAT
Bag vintage thrift
Shoes: Celine Paris ; vintage

I leave you now with old pictures of me from The Tattoorialist book that you can order from la Fnac I believe, when you can see loads of tattooed personalities. Very interesting book I may add!

Cheerioh,

I'm a post-teen monster.

Hey Dears!
I hope you are all very fine.
I had some up and very few downs, but still they were there. But every time they appear I pinch myself in mind, just to let them go. I don't know why, but I think that when I focus on a positive image that I recently had it gives me strenght.
I know I repeat myself a lot , talking about being positive and all but that kind of helps me a lot.
Also; I definitely had to tell you that the new job is now clearly on the go, and it's awesome. We spent two days brain storming about our role, and job of course, but also positivity. So, you can guess I smiled at my inner me during those talks.

Dim Light.

I wrote a lot about my trip to Barcelona, on the social networks (personal Facebook, Facebook page, and of course Insta (@lornasharpofficial ) ) but I have forgotten to do this story telling here. So never too late!
Everything went well on my arrival at the Barcelona Airport, got a taxi to go straight at my hotel where I was supposed to do this check-in very quick as on my other Tattoo Convention trips, I have to set up my booth and get my "avoiding queue" pass so that on Friday everything goes well.
I first have to say that I was again so surprised that the taxi there are so cheap (no one tells them please haha) whilst I was thinking again of that taxi I could have "ordered" to lead me to Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and which would have been like more than 150 €...
Then when I saw my hotel; I was so telling myself "Oh Lorna, sometimes you rule." Hahaha.
No seriously , when you entered the doorway it's literally magical because of that "Harry Potter" look of the hotel hall. Well, not as much as one of my fave hotel in Copenhagen but the SB Plaza in Barcelona, was sparkling in my eyes, because of the little tree tronc sort of wood table and comfy velvet couch, plus the massive huge library surrounding the walls.

So, these photos has nothing to do with Barcelona obviously cause taken in France - but it has this little light that I haven't loose during my whole stay here.
I saw a new area from this town (to be honest it was my 3rd trip to Barcelona, and it's curious how it was so different from the others). Not because I was alone this time, but because I was ready to see something new.

I had a very nice Convention, met some a nice team of barbers and even though it was difficult for me to be understood I am so proud of myself that I have done it.
One of the barber team (actually not a barber at all, he was) , made me think twice about what I do and who I am. Because I so often forget that travelling reveals a new "us", and it's true that facing it alone is some kind of proof that I held a lot of strength. I use to think it's normal but most of people don't travel if they're alone. They don't face people who doesn't know a single word of what you're saying. They haven't got this power to assume who they are and to show it to a bunch of crowd totally unknown.
I so often forget that. And I realized I have to be more grateful and proud of who I am , this can only make me (feel) better.
So, if you too feel a bit down and happen to face some hard stuff then just think twice... You're still here right ? I'm pretty sure you do some great stuff which you can be proud of. You just don't notice them yet. But when you'll do then life is gonna be way... simpler.
That's Positive Minded Attitude.
That's my motto.

For this photoshoot with This Little Sweet Hush ;
I wear:

  • an oversized shirt and Mom Jeans from H&M
  • Birkenstock

That's all for now folks!
Love,
Lorna

I live on the right side, sleep on the left.

Hi Dears, finally Gonna talk about my new job.
I am So delighted to start and begin some kind of new career. I have been very much appreciating my freelance hairstylist lifestyle but I was feeling on the move and thought I should get a more regular task for everyday and earn a salary as everyone.
I find myself pleased because it is not only a "I have to get some money to eat" job it is also creative in one way.
Do you guys heard about the words Visuel Merchandizer before ?
I don't brag to be one yet but I noticed it's something that really appeals me.
When I m doing some saleswoman work and that I'm asked to do something deeper than putting the clothes one after the other; then I'm very happy... It's like styling!
So I am glad, I found myself a new part of creativity that was hidden ... But not really. I think that's already what I have been doing during my photoshoots being so bossy on photographers and wanting the exact thing I had in mind... For real.

For some reason, I always had something against "LA MODE"; and now it opened my mind as simply as hello (i think this expression only works in French, does it haha). Because we focus on the wrong things.
We focus on why do the girls have to be that skinny , why do the designer create some awkward and unwearable stuff and so on. But why we might often forget is that is Art. Whenever you like or not, it will always be.
And about some of the bad focus mentioned upon whilst you put your nose in this you get your answers.
If only I may add one thing around this global negative atmosphere is that; please stop with your "real women have curves" movement... What are real women, and more over who are the fake ones?
Please considerate each girl as a lady, however she is skinny; curvy; tall; petite; tattooed or not; black, yellow ... rainbow if you want! Let everyone be whoever they crave to be, because each person has different desires.

Thus, I will be starting at the (how shall i put it) "upper" H&M store named &Otherstories (I blog post once about it if I recall) in one week. Now...
I'm off to the Barcelona Tattoo Expo this weekend!
So; Spanish Friends come and meet me there !
